Zlango developed a mobile application that enables subscribers to create and send iconic messages to mobile phones. In the message, icons replace words, thus greatly enhancing the texting experience. The Zlango mobile application includes all of the functions of SMS but instead of using letters and numbers, juicy and expressive icons are used.
Zlango's mobile application includes over 200 icons. The icons change over time just like in any other dynamic language, useful icons are added, and unused icons are removed.
You'd be surprised how you can say almost anything with 200 icons. ZMS messages (Zlango Messages) are composed easily by typing words, just like in regular SMS. As you start to type a word, the matching Zlango icons are offered for selection. All you need to do is choose one of the icons, or just complete typing the word, which will then immediately be converted to an icon. Words that do not have matching icons remain in plain text.
Another way of composing such a message is choosing Zlango icons from categories. Usually starting with "who?", you can use your handset's joystick to browse through all the icons that represent persons and characters (me, you, mama, papa, girlfriend etc.), and choose one of them as the first icon of your message. Then you can move on to find another icon from another category, such as "do", "feel" or "describe".
Write a message
- In the main Zlango menu choose "write".
- Start typing text. As you type letters, matching icons will appear for selection.
- For example: if you start typing "d" all the icons which carry a meaning starting with "d" will appear: dad, doctor, despair etc.
- As you continue typing, the matches will reduce. For example: if you type "de", only icons that mean something starting with "de" will appear: dead, dear, devil, despair etc.
- Use your handset's joystick to choose one of the matching icons, or just complete typing the word. If the word has a Zlango meaning, it will be automatically replaced with an icon. If not, it will remain as plain text.
- Another exciting way to compose a message is to select icons one by one, by browsing categories.
- Use your joystick to select a category, browse its content, and choose an icon by pressing on it.
Other writing commands
- Erase an icon with Clear.
- The * button toggles between adding a full stop, ?, !.
- Project the ZMS as a full-screen slide show - select Options / Zlap or long-press the green Send button (on phones that have it).
- Titles display - Toggle the # key, when viewing a category or message, between displaying icon names and hiding them.
- Send messages by selecting "send", which is located at the bottom-left corner of the screen. By selecting "send" you can also add text, view your message as a Zlap (a full screen display of each icon), save the message, or go back to Main.
- Access the previous screen by selecting 'Back'.
Read messages
View the list of messages, and select a message. When viewing a message, select the "Actions" soft key at the bottom-left side. You can edit the message, forward it, view it as Zlap, save it, call the friend who sent it, delete it, get some info about it, or go to next or previous message.

What is a ZMS?
Zlango SMS messages are called ZMS - a unique rich, action-packed method of mobile communication.
How do I know if I have received a ZMS?
A message will appear on your screen indicating that you have received a Zlango message. Press OK to open the Zlango application and view the message.
How many icons are there?
There are over 200 icons in Zlango. The icons change from time to time just like any other dynamic language. Useful icons are added and unused icons are removed.
How long does it take to learn Zlango?
Zlango icons are designed to be as catchy as possible - once you grasp the icon's meaning, you will most probably remember it next time you see it.

How long will it take to download and install Zlango?

How to change Zlango nickname?
Open Zlango, click "Contacts", select your nickname and click "Edit".
What is the maximum message length?
The maximum length depends on several parameters:
- Icons used
- Text insert
- Phone model.
The maximum length of ZMS that only consists of icons is approximately 60 icons.
May I send ZMS to contacts which do not have Zlango installed on their phone?
Yes, you can. The recipient will receive a WAP link to a page which includes a picture of the message and an option to download Zlango.
What if I don't have enough memory on my phone to install the application?
First, try deleting unused JAVA applications from your phone. If this does not help, try deleting unused ringtones or pictures.
What is the size of the applications I will be downloading?
Depending on your device, the application weighs between 64Kb - 422Kb.
Can I use the phone contact list to send ZMS?
You can do so, from most handset.
How to use the phone's contacts, when using Motorola's handsets?
While in Zlango Contacts Screen (while in sending a message process) select "Insert/Search". The "enter number" screen will appear. Press the "fire" key (center key) and the phone contacts will appear. Please note that you will not be able to search within the phone's contacts.
How to delete Zlango from the phone?
To remove Zlango from your mobile phone, open it, mark it and click "Options Delete".
Why do I get Zlango messages that includes a "no-icon" figure?
Zlango is a dynamic language. New icons are added to it from time to time. Your mobile handset might have a previous version of the Zlango application, which doesn't include new Zlango icons, and therefore cannot present those icons when they are sent from a more advanced version.
To get the latest version of Zlango, open the application, and on the main menu choose "Update".
